Is There a Meta Ad Library App? The Honest Answer

No, there is no Meta Ad Library app. Meta runs the Ad Library as a website at facebook.com/ads/library, and on a phone you use it by opening that address in your mobile browser, or by reaching a Page's ads through Page transparency in the Facebook app.

That covers the quick answer. The rest of this post is about what works on iPhone and Android, what does not, and when you should wait until you are at a laptop.

Is there a Meta Ad Library app for iPhone or Android?

There is no Facebook Ad Library app in the App Store or Google Play from Meta. The Ad Library is a public transparency website, and Meta has never shipped it as its own app.

Meta does publish other apps for advertisers, such as the Meta Ads Manager app and the Meta Business Suite app. Those are for running your own ads. Neither is a way to browse any advertiser's ads the way the Ad Library is.

If you want the full tour of what the library shows, start with our Meta Ad Library guide.

How do you open the Meta Ad Library on your phone?

The simplest route works the same on iPhone and Android.

  1. Open your mobile browser. Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Samsung Internet all work.
  2. Go to facebook.com/ads/library. Type it in the address bar rather than searching for it, so you land on Meta's own page.
  3. Set the country and ad category. Choose the country you care about and "All ads" for normal commercial ads.
  4. Search the advertiser or a keyword. Tap a result to see the Page's active ads.

You do not need a Facebook account or a login for any of this. Our post on whether you need to log in to the Meta Ad Library covers the few cases where signing in matters.

One small snag: on a phone that has the Facebook app installed, a facebook.com link can sometimes hand off to the app instead of staying in the browser. If that happens, open the address by typing it directly into the browser bar.

For every route into the library, on desktop and mobile, see how to access the Meta Ad Library.

Can you see a Page's ads inside the Facebook app?

Yes, for one Page at a time. Every Facebook Page has a Page transparency section, and it shows whether the Page is running ads, with a link through to that Page's ads in the Ad Library.

In the Facebook app, open the Page, then look for its info or About area and the Page transparency entry. From there, look for the link to the Ad Library. App labels move around between versions, so the exact tap path may differ on your phone, but Page transparency is the thing to look for.

This route is handy when you see an ad in your feed and want to know what else that brand is running. It is less handy for open research, because you start from a Page you already know rather than searching a keyword across every advertiser.

Our guide to Facebook Page transparency explains how to read the panel itself, including Page creation date and name changes.

What about third-party apps that claim to be the Ad Library?

Search any app store for "ad library" and you will find listings that use the name. Some are spy tools with their own databases, some are viewers, and some are thin wrappers around a web page with ads stacked on top.

None of them is the Meta Ad Library, because Meta does not publish one.

A legitimate third-party tool will say plainly that it is not affiliated with Meta. If a listing uses Meta's logo and implies it is the official library, treat that as a red flag.

What are the limits of using the Ad Library on a phone?

The mobile site works, but it is cramped. These are the issues I run into every time I research on a phone.

  • Small cards. Ad text gets cut off, and you tap into each ad to read the full copy.
  • Fiddly filters. Country, platform, media type and date filters sit behind extra taps, and it is easy to forget which ones are set.
  • Slow scrolling through big advertisers. A brand with hundreds of active ads means a long scroll on a small screen.
  • No comparing side by side. You cannot put two competitors next to each other the way you can in two desktop windows.
  • No download. The Ad Library has no download button on any device, and on a phone there is no extension to add one.

That last point trips people up. Chrome extensions do not run in mobile Chrome, on Android or on iPhone. So the tools that add download buttons on desktop are not available inside your phone's Chrome.

Our guide to downloading Meta ads on your phone covers the workarounds, from screen recording to saving links for later.

Phone or desktop: which is better for Ad Library research?

Here is the honest split I use.

TaskPhoneDesktop browser
Check if a brand is running adsGoodGood
Read one ad's full text and start dateFine, more tappingGood
Scan a competitor's full set of adsSlowGood
Use filters and compare advertisersFiddlyGood
Download videos, images, carouselsNot possible in mobile ChromePossible with an extension
Save a dated swipe fileScreenshots or links onlyFull files plus an index
Share findings with a team or clientSend linksSend files, boards, CSVs

The phone wins for quick checks: a brand you saw in your feed, a question from a client on a call, a start date you want to confirm. Anything bigger is a desktop job.

What do you need from the Ad Library right now?
Quick look at one brand
Phone browser or Page transparency
Save or download ads
Desktop browser with an extension
Research a whole niche
Desktop, with filters and side-by-side windows
Use the phone for checks and the desktop for real research

What is the best mobile-to-desktop workflow?

When I spot an interesting ad on my phone, I do not try to research it there. I capture the lead and finish the work at a desk.

  1. Save the lead. Copy the Ad Library link for the ad, or just note the advertiser's name, in a notes app or a message to yourself.
  2. Open it on desktop. Paste the link into a desktop browser, where filters and full ad text are easier to work with.
  3. Save what matters. Ads disappear from the library when the advertiser pauses them, so keep copies of anything you might need later.

For step three, I use our free extension, the Meta Ad Library Downloader. It adds a Download button to every ad on facebook.com/ads/library, saves videos in original HD and full carousels, and can pack a whole search into one ZIP with a searchable swipe board and a CSV. Then I sync the folder to my phone through any cloud drive, so the swipe file is on every device even though the downloading happened on a laptop.

Use what you save for ideas: copy the angle, not the asset. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

FAQ

Is there a Facebook Ad Library app?

No. Meta does not publish a standalone Facebook Ad Library app on the App Store or Google Play. The Ad Library is a website at facebook.com/ads/library, and it works in any mobile browser.

How do I use the Meta Ad Library on my iPhone?

Open Safari or Chrome, go to facebook.com/ads/library, set the country and "All ads", then search an advertiser or keyword. No login is needed, and you can add the page to your home screen for app-like access.

Can I see a Page's ads inside the Facebook app?

Yes. Open the Page, look for its Page transparency section, then follow the link to the Ad Library to see that Page's active ads. Labels change between app versions, so the exact taps may differ.

Are third-party Ad Library apps safe?

Treat them with caution, because none of them is Meta's Ad Library. Never enter your Facebook password into one, since the real library needs no login, and check the developer and permissions before installing.

Can I download ads from the Ad Library on my phone?

Not directly. The Ad Library has no download button, and Chrome extensions do not run in mobile Chrome. Most people screen record for a quick copy, or save the link and download properly on a desktop browser.
