Privacy Policy

The short version

• You can use the free downloader without an account.
• We don't store the videos you download — they pass through and are deleted automatically.
• We don't sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
• We keep basic, mostly-anonymous analytics to keep the service fast and online.

1. What we collect

Information you give us

• The link you paste. We use the video URL only to fetch that video for you. We don't build a profile from it.
• Contact messages. If you use our contact form, we store the name, email, and message you send so we can reply.
• Account details (only if you create one for a paid feature): your email and billing information, handled by our payment processor.

Information collected automatically

• Basic analytics: page views, the platform you downloaded from, rough country/region (from your IP — we don't store the full IP long-term), device type, and browser. This is used in aggregate to keep Klipio reliable.
• Technical logs: short-lived error logs so we can fix failures (which platform broke, what the error was). These are purged on a rolling basis.

2. What we do not collect

• We don't keep copies of the videos or files you download.
• We don't track you across other websites.
• We don't require your real name, phone number, or social login to use the free downloader.

3. How we use your information

• To fetch and deliver the video you asked for.
• To reply to support and contact requests.
• To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and enforce rate limits.
• To understand, in aggregate, which features and platforms are used — so we improve the right things.
• To process payments, if you buy a paid feature.

4. Cookies and similar tech

We use a small number of cookies and local storage entries that are needed for the site to work — for example, remembering that you dismissed a banner, or keeping you signed in to a paid feature. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.

5. Who we share data with

We only share data with the service providers that make Klipio run, and only what they need:

• Hosting & infrastructure (to serve the site and process downloads).
• Analytics & database (to store contact messages and aggregate usage).
• Payment processor (to handle paid purchases — we never see your full card number).
• Bot protection (Cloudflare Turnstile, to stop spam on our forms).

We never sell your personal information. We may disclose data if legally required to.

6. Klipio Ad Downloader (browser extension)

The Klipio Ad Downloader is a separate Chrome / Brave / Edge extension that adds a Download button to the public Facebook (Meta) Ad Library so you can save ad creatives for research. It is held to the same privacy standard as the rest of Klipio:

• It runs only on the Ad Library (facebook.com/ads/library). It cannot see, read, or act on any other website you visit.
• Downloading sends us nothing. When you download an ad, the file goes straight from Facebook's servers to your own device — it never passes through Klipio.
• Stored on your device only: the extension keeps a small local download count, and — only if you choose to connect a Klipio account — your own Klipio API key. Both live in your browser's local storage and are not shared with anyone.
• The optional “Save to swipe file” feature: if you connect an account and click Save on an ad, the extension sends that ad's public information (its Ad Library ID, advertiser, and media links) together with your API key to klipio.io so we can add it to your swipe file. This is the only data the extension ever sends us, and only when you choose to save an ad.
• No tracking, no selling. The extension contains no advertising or third-party tracking, and we never sell, rent, or transfer this data to anyone, or use it for anything other than the feature you asked for.
• The Ad Library is public ad-transparency data. Use the downloader for research, analysis, and your own ads, and respect each advertiser's rights.

7. Data retention

• Downloaded files: deleted automatically, usually within minutes.
• Contact messages: kept until the request is resolved and for a reasonable period afterward, then removed on request.
• Aggregate analytics: kept in summarized form; raw identifiers are short-lived.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA), you can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to stop processing it. Email [email protected] and we'll act on it.

9. Children

Klipio isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Klipio after a change means you accept the updated policy.
