MagicBrief Pricing After the July 2026 Shutdown

MagicBrief pricing is no longer a checkout question, because MagicBrief shut down on 31 July 2026 after Canva acquired it. What "MagicBrief pricing" means now is what you used to pay for a dead product versus what Canva Grow, Foreplay (from $59), and a free Ad Library path cost you today.

I am not going to invent MagicBrief's old plan ladder. I do not have a verified figure in this set for what they charged in 2025. If you still have invoices, those are the source of truth. If you do not, stop hunting a price page that will never come back.

For who to pick as a replacement, use MagicBrief alternatives. This post is the cost frame only.

Can you still buy MagicBrief?

No. The standalone product closed 31 July 2026 at 8 PM Eastern. Billing was cancelled at the announcement. The site itself said you would not be charged again.

Any page selling "MagicBrief login," "MagicBrief lifetime," or a shared seat is a scam. There is no legitimate MagicBrief SKU left.

The official successor is Canva Grow, a net-new marketing workflow inside Canva, not a port of the old app. MagicBrief's own FAQ was clear on that: same DNA, different product.

What does MagicBrief's successor cost now?

Canva Grow is usage-tiered across Canva plans. MagicBrief's team pointed former customers at Canva Business as the plan with the highest Grow usage. I am not quoting Canva's seat price here. It is not in my verified August 2026 set, and Canva changes plan names. Check canva.com/pricing.

Former MagicBrief customers were offered a promotional window on Canva Business. Promo codes had a redemption deadline of 30 September 2026 per MagicBrief's FAQ. If you are reading this on or after that date, assume the coupon is dead unless Canva still honours it in writing.

Q: What are you actually paying for after MagicBrief?
I live in Canva already and want the official successor -> Canva Grow, check Canva pricing
I want a standalone swipe-file tool for a team -> Foreplay from $59 ($49 annual)
I only saved competitor ads -> Free Ad Library + downloader
I want competitors watched and ads generated on-brand -> Klipio paid from $79/mo
Replacement cost follows the job you actually used inside MagicBrief.

What do the live replacements cost?

Verified August 2026 prices only. Canva Grow: check the vendor.

Foreplay at $59 is the number most creative teams should put next to "we used to pay MagicBrief." It is a real subscription. It is also a product that still exists. If your daily rhythm was boards and briefs, that is the line item.

BigSpy from $9 and Minea from $49 only replace the discovery slice. They will not feel like MagicBrief. I compared that wider market in best ad spy tools.

AdSpy at $149 with no trial is not a MagicBrief replacement. Different user, different archive, different price.

What did people actually lose, in money terms?

Three jobs were bundled. You were paying for whichever you used.

Swipe file. Saving ads to boards, tagging, sharing. Cost to rebuild: $0 with a downloader plus a folder, or from $59 with Foreplay if the team features matter.

Discovery. A feed of ads to browse. Cost to rebuild: BigSpy from $9, Minea from $49, or hours in the Ad Library at $0.

Creative analytics. Connecting your own ad account and seeing which of your ads performed. Cost to rebuild: Canva Grow if you take the successor, or Meta's own reporting, which you already pay for in media. I will not invent a Canva Grow analytics price.

Most teams used one job hard and ignored the other two. Price the one you used. Paying for all three again is how a $59 tool and a Canva seat and a spy database stack into more than MagicBrief ever billed.

Is the free path actually $0?

For Meta save-and-organize, yes.

The Ad Library is free. It shows running ads. It has no download button. Ads vanish when paused. The official API is political and EU-scoped.

A free Meta Ad Library Downloader fills the save gap. The paid product is named later; the extension is separate. It adds downloads, bulk ZIP, full carousels, HD video, a swipe board, and a CSV. That rebuilds the board half of MagicBrief for Meta. It does not rebuild Canva. It does not rebuild account-level creative analytics.

If you were a MagicBrief user who mostly lived in boards of competitor ads, run the free path for two weeks before you put $59 on a card. If the team mutinies without shared comments and briefs, then Foreplay's $59 is the honest upgrade, not a moral failure.

Where does Klipio sit on this bill?

Disclosure, once: Klipio is ours.

Paid plans start from $79 a month. Nucleus is the brand model. Sentinel watches competitor Meta ads. Alchemy generates on-brand creative. That is a research-to-output loop, not a MagicBrief clone. Open it at app.klipio.io. Plans: pricing.

Put $79 on the sheet only if the thing you miss is "competitor is winning, now make our version." If you miss boards, Foreplay at $59 is closer. If you miss Canva-native design, Grow is closer. If you miss saving ads, pay $0.

I will not tell you MagicBrief was "about $X." I do not have a verified historical price, and guessing would make this post a liar in six months of screenshots.

How should finance treat the line item?

Close it. Open a new one named after the job.

"Creative research: Foreplay $59" or "Creative research: free Ad Library" or "Canva Business: check vendor" or "Klipio $79." Do not keep a row called MagicBrief with a blank amount. Blank rows get re-bought from memory, badly.

If an agency client still has MagicBrief in a 2026 media plan, strike it. Replace with one of the rows above. Plans that still list MagicBrief as a live tool have not been updated since July.

FAQ

How much does MagicBrief cost?

Nothing, because you cannot buy it. MagicBrief shut down on 31 July 2026. I do not have a verified historical plan price. Use your old invoices if you need the number for accounting.

How much is Canva Grow?

Canva Grow sits inside Canva plans with different usage tiers. Check Canva's current pricing page. I am not inventing a Grow or Canva Business figure.

What is the cheapest MagicBrief replacement?

$0, if what you used was saving competitor Meta ads. Ad Library plus a free downloader. If you need team boards and briefs, Foreplay from $59 ($49 annual) is the cheapest serious standalone I can quote.

Is Foreplay cheaper than MagicBrief was?

I cannot say, because I will not guess MagicBrief's old price. Foreplay is from $59 a month, $49 on annual billing (verified August 2026). Compare that to your invoices.

Did MagicBrief refund unused time?

Their FAQ said billing was cancelled at the shutdown announcement and you would not be charged again. Access ran until 31 July 2026. For anything on the card after that, ask your bank and Canva/MagicBrief support. I am not support.

Should I pay for Klipio instead?

Pay Klipio (from $79/mo) if you want competitor Meta ads watched and turned into on-brand creative. Do not pay it as a one-for-one MagicBrief seat. Different product.
