How to Download Instagram Ads Receipts and Invoices
To download an Instagram ads receipt, open Meta Ads Manager on a computer, go to Billing and payments, pick the ad account that paid for the ad, set the date range, then open the transaction and download it as a PDF. That works for boosted posts made in the Instagram app too, because every Instagram ad is billed through a Meta ad account.
There is no separate "Instagram billing". Instagram ads are Meta ads, and the receipts sit with the ad account. Once you know which ad account paid, the rest takes a minute.
Where do Instagram ad receipts actually live?
Every Instagram ad runs through a Meta ad account, whether you created it in Ads Manager or tapped Boost on a post in the app. The first time you boost from Instagram, Meta creates or links an ad account behind the scenes, and all charges go through it.
That has two consequences:
- The receipt is in that ad account's billing history, not in your Instagram profile as such.
- If your Instagram is connected to a Facebook Page or a business portfolio, the boost may be billed to an ad account you already use for Facebook ads.

How do you download the receipt on a computer?
This is the route I use every month because it's consistent and handles bulk downloads.
- 1Open Meta Ads Manageradsmanager.facebook.com, logged in with the account that manages your Instagram ads.
- 2Go to Billing and paymentsFrom the main menu. In Meta Business Suite the same area is under Billing.
- 3Pick the right ad accountUse the account selector. The ID in the URL confirms which one you are viewing.
- 4Set the date rangeThe default window is short. Widen it to the month or quarter you need.
- 5Open a transaction and downloadEach row is one charge. Open it for the receipt, then download or print as a PDF.
Each row in the payment activity list is one charge, not one ad. Meta bills when spend hits a threshold or on your monthly billing date, so one receipt can cover several boosts across several days. Don't expect a receipt per post.
Can you download Instagram ad receipts in the app?
Yes, for accounts that boost from the app, though the menu location changes between app versions.
The general path is: go to your profile, open your professional dashboard or the ad tools area, and look for Ad payments or Payment activity. From there you can see charges and open individual receipts, which can be shared or saved.
I say "look for" deliberately. Meta has moved this screen several times, and some account types are sent to Meta's web billing pages instead of an in-app view. If you can't find it within a few taps, the computer route above always works and shows the same data.
Why can't you find your Instagram ad receipt?
Almost always one of five things, and I'd check them in this order.
1. The date range is too narrow. By far the most common cause. Widen it.
2. You're looking at the wrong ad account. A boost from the Instagram app can land in a different ad account from your Facebook campaigns, especially if the Instagram account was connected to a Page later. Check every ad account you have access to.
3. The charge hasn't happened yet. Spend accrues daily; charges come at thresholds or billing dates. A boost from yesterday may not be billed until later.
4. You don't have billing permission. In a business portfolio, running ads and seeing billing are separate permissions. Someone who can boost may not see receipts. Our post on Business Manager vs Ads Manager explains how those roles fit together.
5. The payment failed. A declined card shows up as a failed transaction, not a receipt. Once it's retried successfully, the receipt appears.
How do you get business details on the receipt?
Set them up before the charge. In Billing and payments, the account's business information section lets you add a business name, address and, depending on your country, a tax registration number. Receipts issued after that point include those details.
Receipts already issued generally can't be edited, which is why this is worth doing on day one of a new ad account, especially if you started by boosting from a personal Instagram. Which tax fields appear depends on your billing country. This is bookkeeping guidance, not tax advice; check the specifics with your accountant.
Receipt, invoice or report: which one do you need?
Three different documents get confused constantly.

Most Instagram advertisers pay automatically by card, so the receipt is the valid financial record. If you need spend, reach and results per campaign rather than per charge, you want a report instead. What about saving the ads themselves?
Receipts show what you paid. They don't keep a copy of what ran. That matters more than people expect: when you stop an ad, it drops out of the public Meta Ad Library, and a year later nobody on the team remembers which creative the money went on.

How should you organise receipts over time?
A few habits make tax season painless:
- Download monthly, on the same day each month, for every ad account.
- Name files consistently, for example account name, then year and month.
- Keep one folder per ad account, because agencies and brands often end up with more than one.
- Reconcile against your card statement, allowing for tax lines that some countries add to the charge.
Doing it monthly also protects you from losing access. If an ad account is disabled or an agency leaves with the login, your PDFs are already on your own drive.
